January 2025 – Elm Park Labs founder Kimberly Hanke spoke at TEDxDetroit, sharing how immersive technology is shaping the future of patient care and clinical education.
In her talk, Hanke told the story of “Sarah,” a fictional patient navigating early cognitive challenges, to illustrate how extended reality (XR) technology can help track patient outcomes, guide clinical interventions, and support caregivers.
She discussed several use cases for XR, such as recreating real-world tasks that generate meaningful patient data and VR training that provides a safe, low-risk environment for healthcare professionals to refine their skills. These tools, Hanke explained, empower patients and caregivers with personalized insights that enhance decision-making and improve quality of life.
Elm Park Labs continues to develop immersive solutions that strengthen clinical readiness, improve healthcare outcomes, and inspire the next generation of medical education.
